If you’ve seen last weeks post you might know that I went on a little Instagram mission whilst being in the United States. After I took a week to explore Manhatten (read about my favorite NYC spots HERE) I headed over to the west coast to visit Los Angeles. I’ve never been to this city before but I always dreamed of going. I’m not really sure why but to me, this place always seemed so magical. Ever since I turned sixteen I imagined myself going to La-la Land and exploring this beautiful city. So actually being there seemed so sureal.
Even though Los Angeles might not have the most epic buildings or the highes skyscrapers, it still is so special. The vibe you get whilst wordering around the streets is so amazing. You know and you feel that there is so much going on, so much big business happening behind the scenes but everyone is just so relaxed. It might be the ocean being so close or the amazing weather, I’m not sure. All I know is that I am in LOVE with this city. And whilst I was walking around and seeing all the sights I could fit in the time that I had. I made sure to take as much pictures as possible just to be able to remember my time there. So just like promised here are my most Instagram-worthy in Los Angeles.
1. Made In LA
If you are ever in Los Angeles, the Melrose Avenue is one of the spots you just have to see. It might not look very special at first, but the shops around there are super special and different from what you are used to see in all the malls. Also there is a ton of famous artwork on the walls. This “Made in LA” one was a total winner for me. Get your travel buddy to step on the side of the street to get in the whole artwork. Also don’t be afraid to get your pose on. There are a ton of people, especially girls, getting their picture perfect insta-shots. So be shameless and relase your inner model, haha! Cisco Home, 8025 Melrose Avenue, Los Angeles
2. Urban Lights at LACMA
If you are into art, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art is the place to be. The museum itself is super stylish and even though we didn’t actually go in I’ve been told the art the show is super cool! If you are not so into art – like myself – the Urban Lights are all you need to see. This Los Angeles classic is super versatile when it comes to photographs. You could go right in the middle of the platform to let the lights seem like pretty maze or just get a shot of the lights as a whole. If you don’t have one of those Instagram themes – unlike me – you could even go there at night to make the photo seem that tiny bit more special! Either way – it just looks beautiful. 5905 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90036, USA
3. Griffith Observatory
If you want to see some epic views of the Los Angeles skyline or the Hollywood Sign head over to the Griffith Observertory. Even though it’s very crowded this place is best seen during the sunset on a glorious and cloud-free day. You can get some amazing shots of downtown LA and if you happen to have a zoom lense, you might even get a great shot of the Hollywood Sign. I would’ve loved to get one of those cliche shots of the sign but sadly I don’t have a zoom lense an neither my camera nor my iPhone where able to get a good shot. Next time though, I want to go on a hike to go behind the sing. I feel like a shot like this would be epic! Griffith Park, 2800 E Observatory Rd, Los Angeles, CA 90027, USA
4. Paul Smiths’ Pink Wall
How can you even think of going to LA without planning a trip to the Insta-famous pink wall. Located on Melrose Avenue this spot is the absolute favorite of any girl. And I can understand why – it’s perfectly pink canvas makes for a great background for all kinds of pictures. It’s fame can not only be seen by the amount of people and the security making sure everybody gets a shot and moves along (yes you’ve read right – the have security for that) but also by the dirt that is left behind from everyone leaning against the wall. Trust me, you don’t want to miss this! 8221 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90046, USA
5. LA LA Land Artwork
Right across the street from Paul Smiths’ Pink Wall you can find another beautiful piece of artwort featuring the Oscar winning movie LA LA Land. I’m not sure for how long this artwork will be there because this move came out fairly recently but if you happen to see it on your way to the pink wall, definitely stop for a quick snap. The colors are super pretty and make for the perfect girly insta-shot. And if this exact artwork isn’t there anymore I’m sure there will be something else that’s just as amazing! 8251 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90046, USA
6. Santa Monica Pier
Santa Monica Pier – one of my favorite places in the whole of Los Angeles. I just love being on the pier and by the ocean. The vibe you experience while you are there is so chilled and relaxed and the Pacific Wheel is the perfect place for an quick Instagram. Quick tip: If you are heading this way, make sure to bring loads of time with you. Once you’ve seen the pier you can walk along the beach and in about 30 to 40 minutes you are in Venice – which is even better! Santa Monica Pier, Santa Monica, CA 90401, USA
7. Underneath the Pier
If you’ve seen series like The OC or 90210 you might recognize this view. Unterneath the Santa Monica Pier is where they shot most of the beach scenes in OC California and 90210 Beverly Hills. So if you are like me and had a little crush on Ryan Atwood or Seth Cohen in your youth, you might want to check this spot out. I sadly didn’t manage to actually go to Orange County but this is at the top of my list for my next visit. Santa Monica Pier, Santa Monica, CA 90401, USA
8. Angel Wings
Another piece of pretty pink artwork and much less crowded. I absolutely loved these angel wings by Colette Miller and they fit right into my Instagram theme (please don’t judge, haha!). St. Regis Wine & Liquor, 8401 West 3rd Street, Beverly Grove
9. The Beach
If you want some really dreamy shots then head to the Santa Monica area on a sunny day and walk alongside the beach. There are so many awesome photo opportunities no matter if you are facing the sea or the beache promenade – there will be something that floats your boat.
Hands down the coolest place in all of Los Angeles. I can’t tell you why but I loved it there! The vibe is so chilled out and amazing – the perfect place for an impromtu photo shoot. Trust me the photo opportunities are endless. You have the promenade, the beach, the pier, the skate park and the flea market funny bits and pieces and amazing art! Trust me – it’s worth a visit!
There you go guys, my most Instagram-worthy spots in Los Angeles. Just like last weeks posts I know that there are countless other places in LA that are worth checking out and I still have so many on my list. If you have any suggestions of places that I should see on my next trip, please tell me in the comments. I’d love to know! xo, Marie
